Possibly the best freeware ever written

I have been pondering how to implement a backup system for a workgroup that DOESN'T have all user files stored on a server (which could easily have a backup script run). I was looking for a simple, cheap piece of software to backup selected folders on a client PC to a server machine on a scheduled basis. A few results into my google search I found FileFort Backup, and within 10 minutes had downloaded and performed a test backup successfully. With the help of Fling a .bkf file which can be managed with the standard Windows XP backup utility is now sent to a folder and then uploaded via FTP for extra security to another workstation hosting the backups. I can't seem to get Fling to integrate with FileFort sadly, so the two are running side by side and Fling is set to upload the .bkf file generated on the local machine as soon as it sees a change. With the FTP server hosting a username/password for each machine with its own directory on the server machine, security for each workstation is retained (and as file sharing is disabled on the server machine, it's much harder to get at the files on it). If you want something that will run strictly out of site, this is unlikely to be for you - if you want something that's tidy and works, at least give it a go. I've managed to sell the ease and low cost of implementation to a couple of my regular clients already, all they need is a spare machine capable of running a minimal winXP installation and an FTP server. If I find a donation option for FileFort/Fling, I'll make a donation when I've been paid for implementing it.

FileFort File Backup Software

I had to research and find freeware to back up CMOS settings for a computer hardware/software class. This worked well, very easy to use. thanks

Unable to use

I could not use FileFort as it created an error "backup file too large". I require a program that deals with larger files.

File fort

File Fort is a very interesting piece of freeware. Backing up CMOS values is hard to come by in freeware.
